What is a ‘message board?

It’s a place where people can swap messages, share ideas, make virtual friends and have conversations. On other web sites, you might see it referred to as a ‘bulletin board’, ‘notice board’ or ‘forum’. You leave a message on the board, it is looked at by a helper and then someone replies to it.

What’s the difference between the message board and chat?
