Six-month old Alex is already showing signs of eczema.
His mum has had eczema most of her life so felt it almost inevitable that one of her two children would develop the condition.
“The best thing about having had eczema myself is that I know how best to tackle it,” she explains. “I’ve thoroughly moisturised both children since birth to try and prevent eczema developing at all. My daughter is now four and fortunately isn’t showing any signs.
“Alex however, has very dry patches on his head which he scratches when he’s tired or upset. His face is very dry, red and raised and he’s started getting raised red patches on his back, legs and hands.
“I’m a bit of an emollient fanatic and since discovering Epaderm, go through a 500g tub every fortnight. The garments are a godsend for Alex as they allow me to put even more Epaderm on at night and I get enormous satisfaction in the morning to find his skin is still tacky from the moisture it provides.
“I know that emollients alone won’t stop Alex from developing eczema, but by keeping his skin as moist and hydrated as possible, I’m hopeful that I can stop any irritation, which should stop him scratching which just might prevent his eczema from becoming any worse.”
