Nintendo have finally run out of old SNES games to dig up, so here finally is an all-new Mario game for Gameboy Advance. If you're expecting a traditional platformer though, you're in for a surprise.
This is an adventure game, more reminiscent of Paper Mario, or the (unreleased in the UK) Super Mario RPG for the SNES.
An evil witch has stolen Princess Peach's voice, replacing it with explosives. Mario and Luigi must team up to save the day. They travel across the Bean Bean Kindgom, where their fame precedes them. The game has a fun sense of humour, happily sending up its own rules and other gaming conventions.
There are some control irritations and set-pieces that don't work as well as they should, but these are minor complaints that can't spoil another great Mario title.
