This new release in the long-running series is a return to form for Konami, after the terrible N64 game. It is also the first in the series to convincingly make the transition from 2D to 3D.
The game won't win any awards for its originality, with its cliched 'rescue the damsel in distress from Dracula's castle' plot, but the game is exciting, atmospheric and graphically polished.
This is a hardcore gamer's game, with much to find beyond completing the game, which, regrettably, can be done fairly quickly.
