I am still in shock! She has had horrible eczema for the past 4 1/2 years. We have tried EVERYTHING natural and prescription. I have spent countless hours researching eczema and dragging her to doctors, dermatogolists and allergists. Here is a small partial list of things we have tried over the years:
Zyrtec and Singular for her allergies, Elidel and Protopic ointment, Aquaphor, Eucerin, Gold Bone lotion, soaking in sea salt, lavendar oil, emu oil and countless "eczema" balms and lotions bought at health food shops, online and at craft fairs.
We used All Free and clear to wash her clothes on until I realized it isn't much better than regular because it still contains detergents. For that, we discovered vermontsoap.com and a wonderful product called liquid sunshine that you can use as a laundry soap and dilute to clean with. It is great too and has helped a great deal. The president of the company has eczema and has really made some great products.
Okay, enough babbling about what we have tried. I waited weeks after realizing how wonderful the res-q ointment works to post because I thought it might be a fluke and I didn't want to give anyone false hope. It has almost cleared up her eczema and NOTHING has ever done that ever. She has it the worst in the crease of her elbow and wrist area and after about a week or so of using it two or three times a day, she is almost totally clear there too. I am so happy I could cry.
We still obstain from acidic foods because they seem to be a trigger for her. And we only use Vermont Soap Company soap (their butter bar is AWESOME) on her. They make a shampoo bar as well. And we have an allergy cover on her pillow and mattress because dust mites are a trigger for lots of kids with eczema. We wash her bedding in hot once a week.
I bath her every other day and put the res-q ointment on her spots (or where they used to be) before school, when she gets home and before bed. After a bit to let it soak it, I will also apply Aquaphor all over her for added moisture. She is a different child. Able to sleep through the night without scratching, able to concentrate at school.
I can't believe I am just now finding this wonderful product. I think it took four days before I noticed any difference with her. I'm sure we will still deal with flare-ups, but nothing has ever worked this good including steriod cream! Oh, and the best part is it is all natural and cheap and you just use a bit. Okay, I sound like an infromercial, but this stuff is AWESOME!!!

Hello! My two and a half year old is battling the same problem in the same areas. I am in Canada and will look for this ointment right away. Looks like I also need to switch detergents too! Did you ever try wet dressings? Please share any additional info you have regarding her progress/relief.

Is your daughter allergic to wheat? I noticed the product has wheat germ oil, and since my daughter is hyper-allergic to wheat, I'm afraid to try it....
