i have a 6 year old son who has suffered with severe eczema forever, when he was about 18 months old he had a bad flair up so one clever adult thought that he would b really funny and told me to teach my son not to answer the phone while doing the ironing, ha ha funny i think not!

My little boy is 4 and has had eczema and has suffered since he was about 4 months old. The most stupid comment I have heard is that is I was still breastfeeding him he would not have eczema. This from a doctor. No guilt here then!!

Its not so much what people say its what they dont when they just keep looking at you, i just wish they would say something so i could tell them it is only eczema n it could clear up but they would be bad mannered forever.

I have had eczma in the past and sometimes get it in the summer now, but i know a couple of people who have had very severe cases and they have been called 'Crusty'. Its a cruel world, one of the friends had that insult in Primary School and the other one had it when he was 20 so i just goes to show that people dont change they can still be spiteful when they should know better!

The most stupid thing has got to be "stop scratching that". Do they think I have a CHOICE?? Also the most horrible things are said when I have a flare up. My eczema is on my hands, wrists and forearms and when it is at it's worst I wear cotton gloves. I work in a secondary school and surprisingly it's not the students who say cruel things, but the other members of staff. Recently I've heard such stupid things as "referreeing a snooker match then?" or "are you on commissionaire duties today?". One teacher actually said to me "if you insist on wearing gloves like Michael Jackson you deserve to have stupid things said to you". The students are much nicer and just say "are your hands sore today Miss?" or something equally straightforward. Give me kids anytime!
Lizard legs.

A really horrible girl in my class once called me lizard legs and told me to crawl back to my pond because of my eczema.
